About the event
The SGBA hopes to partner with the Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board this fall to host an in-person parasite education day for small ruminant producers at the Western College of Veterinary medicine with Dr. Fabienne Uehlinger. In order to host this event we need to report back approximate numbers of participants to go ahead with planning. A minimum number of participants must be met to make it cost efficient and worth the time and effort of our vets and staff over at the WCVM, if this number cannot be met, the event will take place the following year. There will be a fee associated with the entry to this event, an update of the approximate cost will be provided once we receive those details, please keep this in mind when RSVP-ing for this event (a fee of around $100 could be expected, lunch and refreshments likely to be included). This event will include an educational lecture, a lab where producers can do their own fecal floats/egg counts (bring your goat and sheep poop!), as well as official FAMACHA training. It will be hands-on educational fun and a great oppourtunity to network with other small ruminant producers. The SGBA may plan to offer additional education and/or host our AGM during this event while we have a number of goat producers gathering in person. Please let us know your interest in this event. We will need committed participants to go ahead with this event for 2025. This event is expected to take place October 2025 if we receive enough interest.
